The Pulltex Vacuum Wine Saver pumps air out of an opened bottle rather than just sealing the top, which slows the oxidation that turns leftover wine flat and dull. A silicone valve closure gives a watertight seal once the air's been drawn out, so the bottle can be stored upright or on its side without a drip escaping.
How the Vacuum Works
A few pumps on top of the stopper draw air out of the bottle, cutting the oxygen available to react with the wine. Less oxygen in contact with the wine means the aroma and flavour hold up for longer than they would under a plain cork or stopper.
Doubling as a Stopper
Once the air's been pumped out, the valve closure keeps the seal watertight, so the same tool works as a stopper for storage as well as a vacuum pump for preservation.

How many pumps does it take to seal the bottle?
We don't have an exact pump count from Pulltex, but a few pumps is enough to draw air out and create the watertight seal.
Can I store the bottle on its side once it's sealed?
Yes, the watertight seal holds whether the bottle is stored upright or on its side.
How is this different from the AntiOx stopper?
This one works by physically pumping air out of the bottle. The AntiOx instead uses an active carbon filter to neutralise the compounds that drive oxidation, and is rated to keep wine fresh for over a week.
Does it work on sparkling wine?
It's designed for still wine. For sparkling wine, drinks or soda, the Pulltex Soda Saver and Air Injector is built to hold carbonation rather than remove air.
