The tray is the reason to choose this over a standard flat grater. It props the grater at a working angle so both hands are free (one to hold the food, one to guide it) and collects the grated result as you go. No bowl underneath, no loose grating surface sliding on the worktop. When the tray closes, it covers the grating teeth so the grater can go straight into a drawer without needing a separate cover.

Is this dishwasher safe?
