A Pasta Kitchen gift card lets someone choose their own Italian kitchen equipment, whether that turns out to be a Marcato pasta machine, a Berkel knife, a pizza peel or a few bags of proper Italian flour. Pick £10, £25, £50, £75 or £100, and we send it by email once your order is paid: to you, if you would rather print it or pass it on yourself, or straight to the recipient with a short message from you. There are no processing fees and nothing is shaved off the balance while it sits unused, so £50 buys £50 of equipment. Cards are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.
Sending it straight to the recipient
Tick "I want to send this as a gift" above and you can add their email address, their name and a message of up to 200 characters, which means the card goes to them rather than landing in your inbox for you to forward on. Leave the box unticked if you would rather receive it yourself, which suits printing it, tucking it into a card, or holding on to it until the day itself. Either way this is a digital card sent by email and we do not post a physical one, so nothing needs to arrive in time.
How it is redeemed
The email carries a code and a link to the card. At checkout the recipient enters that code in the gift card and discount box, and the balance comes off the total. If their order comes to less than the card is worth the remainder stays on it for next time, and if it comes to more they simply pay the difference by card or PayPal. A gift card counts as payment rather than a promotion, so it works alongside a discount code instead of cancelling it out. The one thing it cannot buy is another gift card.
Choosing an amount
Smaller amounts suit the tools people are happy to be given but would not think to ask for, so £10 and £25 sit comfortably in gifts under £10 and gifts under £20, covering things like ravioli cutters, gnocchi boards and Italian flour. At £50 the range opens up to drying racks, moka pots and the better knives, and you can see the spread in gifts under £50. £75 and £100 move towards pasta machines and their attachments, and if the plan is a machine or a Berkel knife, a £100 card makes a serious contribution without committing them to your choice of model. More than one card can be applied to a single order as well, so two people can each buy one and put them towards the same thing.
When something else is the better buy
If you already know exactly what they want, buy the thing itself: a gift card asks the recipient to do the deciding, and that is only a kindness when the choice is genuinely theirs to make. It works best when you know the interest but not the detail, as in you know they make pasta but not whether they already own a ravioli stamp. Worth weighing too is the 12 month validity, which is a real deadline, so for anyone inclined to save a voucher for a rainy day a physical present from our gift collection will serve them better.

FAQs
How is the gift card delivered?
By email, sent automatically once your order is paid. There is no physical card and nothing is posted, so it works just as well for a gift you have left until the last minute. If you tick the gift option it goes to the recipient's email address, and if you leave it unticked it comes to you instead.
Can I send it straight to the person I am buying it for?
Yes. Tick "I want to send this as a gift" on the product page and you can add their email address, their name and a message of up to 200 characters. Do Pasta Kitchen gift cards expire?
Yes, 12 months from the date of purchase. Anything left on the card after that date can no longer be spent, so it is worth telling the recipient when you send it. If you are buying for someone who is likely to hold on to a voucher rather than use it, a physical gift may suit them better.
What happens if the order comes to more or less than the card is worth?
If the order is less, the difference stays on the card and can be spent on a later order. If the order is more, the card covers what it can and the rest is paid by card or PayPal at checkout in the usual way. More than one gift card can also be applied to the same order.
Can a gift card be used alongside a discount code or in a sale?
Yes. A gift card counts as a method of payment rather than a promotion, so it does not cancel out a discount code and sale prices apply as normal. Enter the discount code and the gift card code in the same box at checkout.
What can the gift card be spent on?
Anything we sell, including pasta machines, knives, pizza tools, ingredients and delivery charges. The only exception is another gift card, which cannot be bought using gift card credit.
Can I return a gift card or swap it for cash?
No. Gift cards sit outside our 30 day returns policy and cannot be exchanged for cash, so please check the amount and the recipient's email address before you order. If you have made a mistake with the email address, get in touch at info@pasta.kitchen and we will do what we can.
How do I check the balance, or find the card again if the email is lost?
The original email contains a link to the card which always shows the current balance. If it has been deleted or has gone to spam, email us at info@pasta.kitchen with the order number and the email address used, and we can resend it.
